Hidden Tang Knife Making Class

Service Description

February 6 - 8, 2026 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Instructor and ABS Journeyman Smith Ed Clarke will be teaching you to make a hidden tang knife. Students will: Learn what a hidden tang knife is. The forging process. Tang technology. Profiles for tang strength. Finger guard fit-up considerations. Handle & tang attachment methods. Students will forge, rough grind, heat treat, and finish grind 3 to (no more than) 5 hidden tang knives to include a 3.5" blade, a 4.5" blade, and a 7" to 8" blade. These blades will be prepared for use in the handles and guards class planned for July 31- August 2, 2026. The class will only cover the blade and tang construction. Attaching a guard and handle will not be performed by students during this class.
