I've never forged. Can I make a knife?
Absolutely you can! Enroll in one of our beginner classes and start your path to becoming a maker!
Is it dangerous to forge?
Dealing with hot metal and power equipment entails some risk. If you stay focused and follow safety instructions, then the risks are minimized.
I'm enrolled in a class. What should I wear?
Shirts should be cotton or canvas; no nylon or rayon. Jeans, and pair of leather shoes are also recommended. A leather apron is very much recommended, and a pair of leather work gloves. You should also bring safety glasses and a water bottle.
Should I pack a lunch for my class?
Restaurants are available nearby, but many students do bring their own food. We do have a refrigerator for storing your food.
Is there an age requirement for students?
Due to insurance restrictions, students must be at least 16 years of age to participate in a class. However, younger forging enthusiasts are absolutely welcome at our monthly shop meetings on the third Saturday of each month from 9:00AM - Noon!
